Seriously ® Strong Wins 'Britain's Best Cheese' Award

It’s official - Seriously® Strong is the best cheese in the UK! 

Lactalis McLelland, one of the UK’s leading dairy companies, is celebrating as its Seriously® Strong cheddar was voted the ‘Supreme Champion’ cheese at the prestigious British Cheese Awards in Oxfordshire (28th September). This is the first time a mass-market cheese has won this award.

Produced at the Caledonian Cheese Company in Stranraer, it beat 867 other UK cheeses from 175 different cheesemakers put forward for judging.  This win for Seriously Strong shows how high standards in the commercial sector of British cheese making have become.

Since its launch, Seriously® Strong has stood out in the marketplace as the cheddar with the name that says exactly what it is. It has a crumbly texture and is full of flavour - rich and slightly sweet.  The calcium lactate crystal granules give it a unique slightly crunchy characteristic and despite technology that is available today, the production of Seriously Strong remains a real craft.  At each stage, the product needs to be carefully monitored to ensure that the cheese always maintains its full and intense flavour.  This was clearly evident to the panel of judges who awarded it the top prize.
